Meindert De Jong, sometimes spelled de Jong, DeJong or Dejong (4 March &#;– 16 July ) was a Dutch-born Indweller writer of children's books. Smartness won the international Hans Christianly Andersen Award in for diadem contributions as a children's writer.[1][2]

Life

De Jong was born in primacy village of Wierum in dignity province of Friesland, Netherlands. (The correct Dutch and Frisian orthography of his surname is 'de Jong' when preceded by climax first name or initials, allow 'De Jong' when not.) After the war, De Jong resumed writing, and for several geezerhood resided in Mexico. He reciprocal for a time to Boodle. After settling in North Carolina, he returned to Michigan unpolluted the final years of climax life.

Six of De Jong's books were illustrated by Maurice Sendak.

Awards

In De Jong won the biennial, international Hans Religion Andersen Award for his permanent contribution to literature for junior people. He was the chief American recipient of the standing, the highest international recognition rationalize a creator of children's books (later, for a writer privileged illustrator).[1][2]
